DVSA to Send Text Messages to Driving Test Candidates
The DVSA, alongside its Behaviour Insights Team, has started to send text message alerts to test candidates. The messages are sent approximate a week to 10 days before the practical driving test. The messages will be for learner drivers taking their theory test as well as their driving test.
The Purpose of the Text Messages
- Make sure they’re better prepared to take their test.
- Encourage them not to take their test before they’re ready.
- Help keep them safer once they’re passed
Most learner drivers to take a practical driving test will statistically fail. The DVSA feels the too many learner drivers are applying for their practical test too early, well before they are ready. The fact of the matter is that driving instructors have to encourage their pupils to apply early because most driving test centres have a waiting list of over 2 months.
