DTC Driving Test in Slough

Learning to Drive in Slough

No more buses, a feeling of freedom and the open road, learning to drive in Slough can be exhilarating. Whilst the London transport network has greatly improved in the past 20 years, using public transport in Slough to get anywhere quickly can be a nightmare.

The Theory Test at Slough

The Slough theory test centre is at Petersfield Ave, Slough SL2 5DY.  There is also the theory test centre close by in Uxbridge. You must pass your theory test before taking your practical test. However, you do not need to pass the theory in order to start driving lessons. Many learner drivers fail their theory test simply because they believe it’s just common sense. This is a myth. The multiple choice section of the theory test has many complicated questions which must be revised. The learner needs to answer 43 questions correctly out of the 50 in order to pass the multiple choice. The pass mark for the hazard perception is 44 out of 75.

Learning to Drive with Parents/ Friends

Most people in Slough will choose to learn to drive from either an independent driving instructor or a driving school. However, this is not compulsory. You may choose to learn to drive with your parents, a family member or even a friend. By law, it is a criminal offence for anyone to take money in return for driving lessons unless they are either a qualified driving instructor or a licensed trainee instructor. You may report any person who charges you for driving lessons (that is not an instructor) to the DVSA.

The person supervising the learner must be at least 21 years old and have held a full license for at least 3 years. The learner driver is responsible for making sure that the car they are driving is insured for them as a learner.

Learning to Drive with a Driving School in Slough

The best way of finding a good driving school or instructor is to ask for recommendations. If you are new to the Slough area, you can either choose a national driving school or alternatively look for Approved Driving Instructors in local directories or the DVSA website. You will also need to decide whether to want to learn in an automatic car or a manual. The majority of people learn to drive in a manual car.

Manual cars have a brake pedal, accelerator and a Clutch. You change gears yourself using the clutch pedal and gear lever. However, there is no clutch in an automatic car. The car changes gears for you. This makes learning to drive easier which generally means you will reach test standard with fewer driving lessons. However, if you pass in an automatic car, you will be restricted to driving only automatics. If you pass in a manual you can legally drive both.

The Practical Driving Test at Slough

Strangely, the Slough practical driving test centre is in Langley. It has a huge waiting time for appointments. Generally speaking, this is not an issue as most driving instructors advise their pupils to apply for the practical test before they are actually ready.

Unfortunately, when a learner fails their test, this becomes a serious problem. DTC UK monitors the DVSA website every 20 seconds searching for cancellations. We can guarantee you a driving test in the Slough area within 2 weeks or it’s free. Emergency driving instructor available at only 24 hours notice. Improve your driving by watching our YouTube Channel.
