Chippenham – Located on the Outskirts

Chippenham driving test centre is located on the outskirts of the town. Due to its location, the driving examiner will have access to both busy roads and also rule countryside driving. Both of these types of driving requires completely different skills. Busy town driving, you will find narrow residential roads. These easy but can be challenging due to park cars on both sides. You must be prepared to give way to oncoming vehicles. As soon as you see an oncoming vehicle, check the rearview mirror and ease off the accelerator. This will give you time to think. However, if you’re any doubt, slow down and be prepared to stop. Generally Speaking, the driving test is there to see how safe you are.

Chippenham – Poorly Maintained Country Roads

The country lanes around Chippenham are not as well maintained as the residential roads. Expect to deal with hazards such as potholes and uneven road surface. Also be aware of pedestrians on the road, as there will be no pavement. High-speed a roads such as the A350 are often featured in the driving test.

There is a walkway to access Chippenham Driving Test Centre but no steps or access for candidates with mobility impairment. However, special arrangement will be made. Both Male and female toilets are available. There are only six parking spaces available at this centre. Therefore, please do not arrive too early.
