Unfair Private Parking Fines May Soon Stop

Most of us have been hit in the past with unfair parking charges. The problem with parking firms is that very little can usually be done. They actually hold you to ramson.

MPs Back New Parking Bill

MPs have backed a new parking bill which would make it easier for the motorist to appeal against private firms. The new Parking Bill would create a single independent appeals service. Furthermore, it would introduce a code of practice for private car parks. The code of practice would set a maximum fine of £100. Currently, there is no limit. Drivers would also be given a 10 minute grace period before a ticket can be issued.

Parking Tickets on the Increase

The bill comes in due to pressure from the angry motorist. 687,000 were issued with private parking tickets 10 years ago. However, in 2018/19, it is estimated that 6.4 million tickets will be issued. Local Government minister, Rishi  Sunak MP, said that we needed a clear and fair system. The new parking bill is currently in the House of Lords.
