The Great Ouse River originates just outside Northamptonshire and flows east through Buckingham, Milton Keynes and Olney. West Wycombe is a small village on the A40 in High Wycomb, and the main branch of the Grand Union Canal runs through the village, as does the disused south-east rail line. Buses leave from the city centre via the Highwycombe Coachway, stopping at the train station in the north-west of the city. High Wycombe even has its own Driving Test center based at  Wellington Rd, Cressex Business Park, High Wycombe HP12 3PR.

Great Western operates non-stop, Avanti West Coast to Milton Keynes and Southern operates hourly services between Birmingham city centre and Birmingham city centre via High Wycomb. West Midlands Trains offers services to Birmingham Central, Birmingham North East, Coventry, Oxford and London St Pancras as well as Birmingham South East.

The line between Aylesbury and Claydon Junction could be reopened in May to allow traffic from Aylesbury to Milton Keynes. The line will eventually connect the east-west rail line to the north, linking the city centre with Milton Mowbray and the south with the east of the country. Trains will then travel from High Wycombe via an upgrade to an existing line to Marylebone, from where they will travel to a new station called Oxford Park Way next to the Water Eaton Park and Ride.
