Until recently, Leicester was home to 3 driving test centres. Gypsy lane driving test centre has now closed down leaving Leicester with only two driving test centres. The first is in south-Wigston the second is in Cannock Street.

Leicester – Many Different Road Systems

Leicester is s a vibrant city many different road system including roundabouts which will range from small mini roundabouts in the residential area to large multilane roundabouts leading onto fast flowing A roads and dual carriageways. Leicester as its fair share of small narrow residential roads, often with parked vehicles on both sides. This can be a problem for many learner drivers. Plenty of practice is required at leaving adequate clearance for stationary vehicles and meeting oncoming cars.

Leicester – Residential Roads

The residential roads will also be used for the purpose of the reverse manoeuvre. The driving examiner will ask you to carry out one out of a possible four reverse exercises. Many learner drivers do not like reversing. Therefore, they rush it. However, rushing is what causes the manoeuvre is what causes the learner driver to make mistakes. Observations are very important during the reverse manoeuvre. In fact, it is more important than the manoeuvre itself. You make a mistake with the reversing; this can be rectified simply by going forward. However, if you make mistake with the observations, it is usually too late to correct.
