The drive from Craven Park will involve a high standard of driving across various road systems. This will include roundabouts of all shapes and sizes, open and closed junctions and of course, crossroads.
Hull – Busy A Roads
The driving test from Hull will include busy A roads such as the A1079 and A1165. These a roads are used to take you into the rural areas into the country lanes.
The residential roads of Hull, although quiet, can be very challenging. This is due to the roads being narrow, often with parked cars on both sides. You must be prepared to give way to oncoming vehicles whilst at the same time leaving clearance. These residential roads are also used for the reverse manoeuvers. The driving examiner will have a choice of one out of four reverse manoeuvers.
Test Hull – Independent Drive
The driving test also involves 20 minutes of independent driving. This is where the driving examiner will expect you to follow directions given by a satnav. Many learner drivers worry unnecessarily about this section of the driving test. If you were to miss your turning or even take the wrong turning altogether, you would not fail the driving test. That you continue to drive safely.

Pass Rate at Hull Driving Test Centre
Hull driving test centre is an extremely busy centre, with over 700 driving tests being conducted here on a monthly basis. From the 700 who attempt a test, usually, just over 340 of them pass their test. This gives the centre a pass rate of 47.6, which is in line with a majority of UK driving test centres
In order to have the greatest chance of passing you must perform to a very high standard in order to pass the test, the examiner is expecting you to show caution to other road users, and pass each aspect of the test. For example, the manoeuvres and independent driving section.
When you book your last-minute intensive driving lessons, you will have the choice of learning in an automatic or a manual car. Last year there were over 1.7 million driving tests conducted. Out of these, only about 30% were taken in an automatic car.
Manual or Automatic Intensive Driving Lessons
It’s easier to pass your driving test in a week by taking an automatic car compared to a manual. This is because you don’t have the extra task of changing gears, especially on approach to junctions such as roundabouts. This, in turn, means that you will have more time to focus on the speed and observations on the approach to such junctions. Once you’ve passed your driving test in an automatic, you will be restricted to driving only automatics. However, you are most welcome to upgrade to a manual license by retaking and passing another test.
If you have no problem with the changing of gears, then it would be wise to take your last-minute intensive driving lesson and the official driving test in a manual car. Once you’ve passed in a manual car, you will in effect have 2 licenses. An automatic as well as a manual license.
