Pontefract – Eye-Sight Test

The drive from Pontefract practical test centre will start with the driving examiner conducting an eyesight test. This is a simple test in which you will be asked to read a number plate at a distance of 20 meters. Having read the number plate, the driving examiner will ask you one vehicle safety question before proceeding to the drive.

Pontefract – Reverse Manoeuvre

Part of the driving test will involve carrying out one reverse manoeuvre. As Pontefract driving test centre has a car park, the bay park manoeuvre is very popular with the examiners. There are two types of bay park manoeuvres. The first is the reverse bay park manoeuvre and the second is the forward bay park manoeuvre. In this manoeuvre, you will be asked to drive forward into a box of your choice, reverse out and then to drive off as normal. Many learner drivers have been known to fail their driving test on the reversing manoeuvers due to observations. Continues observations throughout the exercise are essential. If the driving examiner chooses not to carry out the reversing at the driving test centre, they will have a choice of either the parallel Park or the stopping on the right side of the road.

Pontefract – Town Roads

The Pontefract practical test centre is situated on many busy town roads. This will give the driving examiner the opportunity to assess your ability to safely deal with most traffic systems such as crossroads, various junctions and roundabouts. The roundabouts will range from both small mini roundabouts to large multilane roundabouts.

The driving test will also involve a large amount of independent driving. During this part of the driving test, the examiner will place a satnav on the dashboard of the vehicle. It will be preprogramed with a route which you will be required to follow. You will not be able to use your own set satnav. The driving examiner may decide not to use a satnav. Case you will be asked to follow road signs.
