Worplesdon is a village, located 3.1 miles (5.0 km) north-west of Guildford, Surrey, England, and is a large, fragmented civic parish comprising: Worplesdon proper (including its central church area, Perry Hill), the village of Fairlands, Jacobs Well, Rydeshill, and Wood Street, all variously-sized smaller settlements, all of which are connected well by footpaths and by local roads. Its area includes the Whitmoor Common, which may be the collective term for all its Commons. South of Broad Street, east of Wood Street village, ruins of Roman villas are located in a farmhouse on Broad Street Common–see the Guildford article for more details, because this is right by the main towns western boundary, in any case, within the parish. Worplesdon has an Grade I C church, St Marys, with 13th-century chancel and later additions. Worplesdons individual manor appears in the Domesday Book 1086 as Worpesdune, held by Turald (Thorold) de Montgomerie.

We are later shown that Jasper Tudor (Earl of Pembroke, later created as the Duke of Bedford) was attainted, but after Edward IV granted it to the Duke of Clarence in 1474, he returned to being the last duke of Bedford in medieval creation (who died, without children). Sir Anthony Browne and his son, Anthony Browne, 1st Viscount Montagu, received royal charters to the manor during the Tudor period, followed in 1625 by Lord Annandale, who held the estate for three lives. The Household next held it, followed by John Paine of Hurtmore, and Thomas Newton of Stoke (next to Guildford), who held it in 1670. Its owners up to 1911 had acquired what was left of the manor from 1681, a manor held by the Onslows, who were the historically Earls of Surrey.

The parish was divided into four parishes: Perry Hill, around the hill where the church stood; Burpham, to its east; West End; and Wyke. The latter, separated from the rest of the parish, was added to Ashe in 1890.
