South Kilworth is a village and civic parish in the south-east corner of Leicestershire, England, just south of North Kilworth. The parish has a population of 430, according to the 2001 census, and is part of Harborough District. The population increased to 513 in the 2011 Census.

At the time of the Domesday Survey (1086), two settlements existed, Civelesworde and Clergyorde, later divided between North Kilworth and South Kilworth. In -iorde one may readily recognize the courtyard, while in garth one may recognize a form of the same suffix, either -worde or -worth, both words indicating enclosed fenced-in areas, which were all held by the Cairfaels.

In -iorde is noted the location south of the village of a “manor house”, in fact the Grange at Selby Abbey, Yorkshire, is marked by a 22-foot-wide dry moat, with a fishpond northwest of it. Both that and the site of “the old hall” at North Kilworth were once part of the lands owned, over the border at Stanford-on-Avon, Northamptonshire, by one Leuric.

In 1920, the Prince of Wales (Edward VIII) attended Pytchleys Hunt at South Kilworth, 10 March. From 1956, the Westerby Basset Hounds were kept in South Kilworth Kennels.
