Sevenoaks is the principal town of the Sevenoaks District which is followed by Swanley and Edenbridge. It is a town in Kent with a population of 29,506 which is situated in South-East London. Charing Cross is the traditional center of London and Sevenoaks 21 miles from here.
In the 18th century, a Toll Road was opened and this is how Sevenoaks became part of the modern communications network. Now, in the 21st century, it has a very large commuting population. A large number of the population commutes elsewhere to their places of employment – this is mostly to Central London; this has led to house prices increasing and a lot of pressure is being put on the local area to build more houses.
Most of those houses attract high prices, this makes it difficult for people to buy property. Industries such as finance and business services tend to be in the . The transport links are generally very busy and the town center congestion is common at peak times.
Many or ALL learner drivers in the UK are very interested in driving test pass rates. It’s understandable though, isn’t it, as its just human of us, to measure our own ability against someone else. If your looking for specific results, look at the table below, these are the pass rates at Sevenoaks, for the pas five years,
2015-16 | 2016-17 | 2017-18 | 2018-19 | 2019-20 |
49.2% | 52.4% | 53.3% | 50.8% | 51.4% |
The national average pass rate in the UK is 45.9% – we can see that Sevenoaks has continued to excel those pass rates for the last five years. Remember though, that does not mean everyone will succeed in their test here, it depends on your own ability and not the statistics.
Sevenoaks is a small town located outside the London M25 ring road. It is surrounded by many country lanes so there is a high possibility that you will encounter such roads on your driving test.
Winding Country Lanes
Country lanes are pretty and seem like an easy drive, however, they have their own dangers; often hidden. You may come across vehicles that you would not normally see when you are driving in town such as tractors. You may encounter horses, sheep, and cattle. Furthermore, country lanes are not as well maintained as are the city roads and you may find large potholes. Hitting a pot-pole at high speed can be extremely dangerous. Although the national speed limit on county lanes is 60 mph, you must remember that all speed limits are limits and not targets to be met. The examiner will expect you to drive at a speed at which you can stop within the distance you can see to be clear.
Reverse Manoeuvres
The reverse manoeuvre will however be done locally on quite residential roads. During your semi intensive driving lessons at Sevenoaks, you will be taught to reverse safely with due regard to other road users. There are four manoeuvres you will learn during your crash driving course. However, in the official practical driving test, the examiner will choose one of them. The four manoeuvres include parallel parking, stopping on the right-hand side of the road and then reversing back, reversing into a bay, and finally driving forward into a bay and then reversing back.
20 mph zones
During your driving lessons or even your practical test at Sevenoaks you will come across several 20 mph roads. Many of these have recently had their speed reduced from 30 mph to 20 mph. Bear in mind that a satnav may display the old speed if it has not been updated.
