Humberstone and Hamilton is a constituency and administrative ward in the city of Leicester, England. It comprises the north-east Leicester suburbs of Humberstone, Humberstone Garden City, Hamilton, and Netherhall. The ward is named after the historic village of Humberstone, and the contemporary housing estate of Hamilton.

The place-name of Humberstone was first recorded in Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Humerstane. The name means a hunbeorht of stones. The “Hunbeorhts Stone” is a granite monolith of unknown origin, possibly glacial, which lies in an area in Hamilton.

It was completely exposed before 1750, but was later cut off, with the remains buried by the farmer. In the 1980s, part of it was partially exposed and made available to the public. It was then enclosed as part of the construction of Leicesters North Circular Road, with a plaque installed on the site, which describes the stones history.

Hamilton is named for the deserted medieval village, which was located within the Buckby Thorpe Civil Parish, outside Leicester City boundaries. The name was revived for the new developments along the A563 Road, just east of Rushey Meadow. The village of Humberstone has been inhabited for many centuries.

Part of the wall surrounding local church, St. Marys, is a former wattle and daub wall. There is also a straw lodge dating to similar times. The oldest parts of the church are the tower and chancel walls, which are medieval. The windows in the chancel are from the 19th century.

The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1857-8, with Raphael Brandons designs. Inside, he used locally obtained alabaster from Humberstone to make the capitals for the columns of the nave, and for other details.

The chapel contains a plaque on which is incised the image of the Knight. This is from the grave of Richard Hotoft, who died in 1451.
