Market Harborough is a market town in the Harborough area of Leicestershire, England, located at the extreme south-east of the county, which forms part of the Northamptonshire boundary. The population of Market Harborough was 24,818 in 2019. It is administratively based within larger Harborough district.

The town was previously a crossing point for both roads and railways; however, the A6 now bypasses the town to the east, while the A14, carrying east-west traffic, is six miles (9.7 km) south. Market Harborough railway station is served by East Midlands Railway services on the Midland Main Line, with direct services northwards to Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, and Sheffield, and southwards to London St Pancras. Rail services to Rugby and Peterborough ended in 1966. Market Harborough was previously part of the Forest of Rockingham, a royal hunting preserve used by the monarchs from the Middle Ages onwards, starting with William I, and its original boundaries extended from Market Harborough through Stamford, including Corby, Kettering, Desborough, Rothwell, Thrapston, and Oundle.

The steeple of St Dionysius church stands straight up off the road, since there is no churchyard. It was built of graystone in the 1300s, the church itself being a more recent construction, dating to around 1470. Next to the church is Old Grammar School, a small wooden structure dating to 1614.

The ground floor is open, creating a covered area for market trade, while on the ground floor is a single room. It has become the symbol of the city. The adjacent plaza is mostly pedestrianised, surrounded by buildings in various styles. The upper part of High Street is wider, containing mainly Georgian buildings that have not been demolished.

Market Harborough has two villages within its boundaries: Great Bowden lies on the crest of a hill, approximately one mile from the centre; Little Bowden is less than a half-mile from the centre. The three centres have mostly been condensed by strip development and land fill, though Great Bowden continues to maintain a strong village character.
