Blaby is a major town and borough within Blaby district, central Leicestershire, in the United Kingdom, about five miles south of Leicester City Centre. At the 2011 census, the population of Blaby was 6,194, slightly down on its figure of 6,240 in 2001.

Blabys proximity to the town makes it a part of Leicester urban area. Its name likely derives from the Old Norse word Blabyr, a “farmstead or village belonging to someone called Blar. There appears to have been a thicket of Viking settlements in Leicestershire, though some records at Blaby library suggest that the villages name derives from its early rector. Blaby is paired with Villers-sous-Saint-Leu in France.

Although few buildings are of great historic or architectural interest, Old Blaby is a conservation area. Old Blaby contains Bakers Arms, a straw-walled public house dating from 1484. Other public houses found at Blaby are The Fox and the Tiger, The Bulls Head, and The Black Horse.

The Tom Thumb has been sold by Everards Brewery, with planning permission granted for ten homes to be built in its place. The Queen of Egypt has now been torn down.

Blaby is home to three schools: Blaby Stokes CE Primary School, Blaby Thistly Meadow Primary School, and Foxfields Academy. To the south of the Bakers Arms is Boskell Park, which has an 19th-century icehouse. Other parks include Northfield Park, used for football, cricket, fetes and festivals, and Oakfield Park, located just off Hospital Lane.
