Glen Parva is a civic parish of Blaby in the county of Leicestershire, England, and has a population of more than 17,000. The civil parish (including Eyres Monsell)[clarification needed] had a population of 17,189 at the 2011 census.

To the north, it is adjacent to Aylestone, and to the east, to South Wigston. To the south and west, it is not immediately surrounded by development.

Eyres Monsell forms part of the County Borough of Leicester, but is included within the parish of Glen Parvah (the south end of Eyres Monsell is accessed from just south of Sturdee Road). Glen Parva is within Saxondale parish of Leicestershire. Glen Parva, along with Eyres Monsell, is 4.5 miles south of the Leicester town centre, a mile southeast of the Fosse shopping park, which is located at Enderby, and a half-mile from Blaby.

It is largely residential, without any major retail outlets or leisure centres, though is adjacent to Fosse Shopping Park, one of the largest out-of-town shopping parks in the UK. There are some smaller shops located within Glen Parva itself, mostly at Carvers Corner. At Carvers Corner, there is a newsagent, a off licence, post office, pharmacy, barber, grocer, and an accountant. In the surrounding neighbourhood, there is a hairdresser and another off licence, and the Working Mens Club, which is members only.

The original settlement was certainly close to the Ford on the Sence river, known locally as Glen Ford; and there is considerable evidence for a medieval village being located in the district. Glen Parva (“Little Glen”) is so called in order to distinguish it from Great Glen (rarely Glen Magna). Under the Local Government Act 1894, Glen Parva became a civil parish in the Blaby Rural ward; it had previously been included within Aylesstones ecclesiastical parish. Glen Parva Barracks, which became a major military facility during the 1960s, was opened in 1881.

Eyres Monsell became part of the parish of Glen Parva when a piece of land was purchased from Bolton-Eyres Monsell (the area named in his honour), but the land was initially owned by the Glen Parva parish council, and they were then responsible, alongside Leicester city council, for all matters within the borough. Eyres Monsell is thus a city district of Leicester, included within Leicester City Borough. Carvers Corner is named for the Carver family, in particular Steven James Harold Carver and his elder son Steven Graham Carver, who owned this street, running the Post Office and Newsagents till the late 1980s.
