Every learner driver is interested in pass rates, this is one of the reasons we like to write about them, as many learner drivers find these statistics very very interesting. The average pass rate stands at 45.9%. For Bromley, please see the table below.
2015-16 | 2016-17 | 2017-18 | 2018-19 | 2019-20 |
– | – | – | – | 40.6% |
Do not be put off by the statistics, as passing your driving test depends on your skills and abilities. Every person is different, and we know learner drivers like to compare themselves to each other, but always remember passing your test DEPENDS ON YOU!
Document Checks
It is very important that you take your provisional license to your driving test, this is because the examiner needs to check that the license you have is valid. Normally, you do not need to take your theory certificate with you unless your exam starts at 7:13am – this is because when driving tests start at this time, the examiners do not have access to the checking system, therefore it is advisable to have your certificate number just in case.
You do need to bring a car for the driving test and you need to ensure that it is insured for you to drive and it needs to have a valid MOT if the vehicle is over three years old. The examiner will not ask you to see any paperwork relating to insurance or MOT as they will be able to check this electronically. If you require an emergency car hire for your driving test, accompanied by a qualified driving instructor, DTC UK can arrange this for you.
Narrow Residential Roads
Bromley is in the heart in the London and due to this, during your driving test, you will spend a lot of time in your semi intensive driving lessons in Bromley only in residential roads.
There are many residential roads in the area which can cause a problem with meeting oncoming vehicles and also getting close to parked cars. Whatever the situation, the DTC driving instructor will teach you to use the MSM routine.
During your practical test, as soon as you see an oncoming vehicle approaching, the first thing you must do is to check the rear view mirror. After this, it would be advisable to slightly ease off the accelerator pedal as this will allow you time to think and decide. Bear in mind that the driving test at Bromley is based on safety before anything else. Therefore, if you have any doubt about whether to proceed or to stop, it would be advisable to take the side of caution and stop.
Mini roundabouts –
There are several mini-roundabouts of the Bromley driving test route. They are often replace T-junctions in quieter residential areas to ease the flow of traffic. The rules at mini-roundabout are the same as normal roundabouts. However, bear in mind that you would not need the “exit” signal when leaving the roundabout to follow the road, and you would not need the exit signal when turning right. Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that although you need only give way to traffic on the right and have priority over traffic on the left, priority must be given and not taken.
ONE WAY ROADS
There are a few one-way roads on the Bromley driving test route. Many learner drivers have been known to fail at Bromley because they were not aware that they were on a one-way system. Therefore watching road signs and road marking are vital in order to pass your driving test at Bromley. At the entrance to a one-way road, you will be a blue rectangular sign with a white arrow. Please note that this is different from a head-only sign which is a blue circle with an arrow.

Car Parks
The Bromley practical test center has a car park; this may mean that the examiner may ask you to carry out the bay park exercise at the center itself. He/she can request this at the start or at the very end of the driving test. The examiner can ask you to reverse into a bay of your choice or you may be asked to drive forward into a bay and then reverse out of it. During your semi intensive driving lessons at Bromley, your DTC driving instructor will teach you the bay park in various public car parks.
