Launceston – Surrounded by Rural Roads

There are many rural roads surrounding Launcester driving test centre which will form part of the driving test route. Many learner drivers find the rural roads difficult due to the high speeds on the harsh corners. Plenty of practice is required on these roads as it does take time to be able to judge the high speeds and deal with the harsh cornering.

Launceston – Small Villages

There are many small villages around Launcester which will be used during the driving test. These villages tend to have small, confined spaces. Many learner drivers have been known to fail their driving test in such areas due to the speed on approach. This is usually because used to driving fast on the country roads. So, as you enter a village keep a check on your speedometer. The smaller space, the slower should be. Plan to stop on approach to all hazards but at the same time, avoid undue hesitation and prepared to go.

Launceston – Dual Carriageways

High-speed a roads such as the A30 dual carriageway may also be present on the driving test. The driving examiner will be watching carefully how you merge on to the A30. You must be prepared to adjust your speed to match that of the traffic on the dual carriageway. Under no circumstances must you force the traffic to slow down, swerve or to stop. Once on the dual carriageway, left-hand lane unless you’re overtaking. However, if you do have to overtake, please remember to back into the left-hand lane and the first safe opportunity.
