Hereford – Outskirts of Town

As Hereford Driving Test Centre is located on the outskirts of the town, expect a deal with both rural country roads and busy town roads. Both of these road types have their own sets of hazards. Firstly, rural country roads are not as well maintained as a town of Hereford. Due to this reason, you should expect a deal with uneven road surface and potholes. This can cause a problem, especially during a wet spell. Secondly, the residential roads of Hereford are narrow often with stationary vehicles. The driving examiner will expect you to be aware of clearance all around whilst at the same time being prepared to give way to oncoming vehicles.

Hereford – Dual Carriageway

The A438 dual carriageway is minutes away from Hereford driving test centre and will be are likely part of the test. It is most important when joining a dual carriageway that you do not force the traffic on the main road to either slow down, swerve or to stop.

Like most driving test centers the review ratings for Hereford DTC is fairly low. This does not mean that Hereford has a bad test centre. Most learner drivers, when they pass their driving test, would give their driving instructor a good review. However, a learner driver fails their test, they usually driving test centre a bad review.

Pass Rate at Hereford Driving Test Centre

Hereford is a relatively busy driving test centre, averaging over 200 driving tests per month. Its pass rate is much higher than the average in the country; with a pass rate of 57%, over 10% higher than average. This is taken from data collected over a 6 month period, showing that 1578 driving tests were conducted here. From this number, 903 people passed their test.

Even though the pass rate is high, this does not mean that the examiners are extra lenient or that they will pass you even if you make mistakes. They’ll still be expecting a very high standard of driving and you must make less than 15 minors in order to pass.

When you book your last-minute intensive driving lessons, you will have the choice of learning in an automatic or a manual car. Last year there were over 1.7 million driving tests conducted. Out of these, only about 30% were taken in an automatic car.

Manual or Automatic Intensive Driving Lessons

It’s easier to pass your driving test in a week by taking an automatic car compared to a manual. This is because you don’t have the extra task of changing gears, especially on approach to junctions such as roundabouts. This, in turn, means that you will have more time to focus on the speed and observations on the approach to such junctions. Once you’ve passed your driving test in an automatic, you will be restricted to driving only automatics. However, you are most welcome to upgrade to a manual license by retaking and passing another test.

If you have no problem with the changing of gears, then it would be wise to take your last-minute intensive driving lesson and the official driving test in a manual car. Once you’ve passed in a manual car, you will in effect have 2 licenses. An automatic as well as a manual license.
