Situated on the outskirts of town is Haddington the driving test centre. Due to its location, the learner driver needs to be prepared to deal with both busy town roads and rural country roads. Both of these road types have their own unique set of hazards.

Haddington – Residential Roads

The residential town roads of Haddington seem relatively straightforward. However, as several of these roads are narrow often with parked vehicles on both sides, can easily become challenging. The driving examiner will expect you to be aware of your surrounding and the same time as dealing with meeting vehicles. Furthermore, some of the residential roads on the Haddington driving test route have poorly marked road markings. In order to pass your driving test at Haddington, you need actively scanning all road signs and road markings.

Haddington – Country Lanes

When I such dual carriageway, the examiner will expect you to keep in the left-hand lane unless you’re overtaking or turning right. If you decide to overtake, you must come back to your normal driving position at the first safest opportunity.

Haddington – Pass Rate

Haddington driving test centre has high pass rate, however, it also conducts relatively few driving tests on a monthly basis. Its pass rate is averaged to be at 60%, which is far higher than most other driving test centres in the country. Each month, the centre conducts just over 100 driving tests, out of which around 62-65 people pass.

Data collected over a 6 month period showed that 625 driving tests were taken here by candidates. Out of the 625, 375 of them passed. Which is where the 60% statistic comes from.
