Thorpe Astley is a commuter town in the south-west corner of Leicester, England. It is part of the Braunstone Town civic parish, though a small area of the development, around Goodheart Way, extends to Leicester Forest East civic parish. Both Braunstone Town and Leicester Forest East are in the Borough of Blaby, Leicestershire. This settlement was built over the final stretch of farmland at Braunstone Town.

Construction on the development began following the approval of Blaby Borough Council in 1994. It covers much of a wedge of land between the M1 motorway on its west and the A563 bypass to the east, with the established Braunstone West area to its north. It is flanked on its south by Meridian Industrial and Commercial Development. A community centre serving this housing development was opened in October 2010; it is maintained by Braunstone Town Council.

Around this time, a new community group, Your Thorpe Astley, was formed, aiming to foster local residents interests and run events in the centre. The name “Torpe Astley” is derived from the Astley family, who owned lands in Braunstone Town between 1334 and 1404. Several roads on the Thorpe Astley Estate are named for notable historical figures, including 18th-century political activist Thomas Paine and American paratroop commander Gen. James M. Gavin. General Gavins US 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters was located in Braunstone Park throughout 1944.
