Oldbury is a market town in the metropolitan area of Sandwell, in West Midlands, England. It is the administrative centre of the county. At the 2011 census, Oldbury Ward had 13,606 residents, and according to 2017 estimates, a larger boroughwide redevelopment unit had a population of 25,488.

However, the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell Council gives a 2011 population figure for Oldbury as 50,641. This higher figure is the combined population of the parishes of Bristnall, Langley, Oldbury and Old Warley; an area defined by Sandwell council as constituting Oldbury Town — one of the six towns in Sandwell. Oldbury is part of the Ancient Parish of Halesowen, a separate part of Shropshire, which is surrounded by Worcestershire and Staffordshire. After the abbey was dissolved, Henry VIII granted Halesowen Manor, including Oldbury, to Sir John Dudley.

In 1555, Sir Johns son, Robert, sold much of Hales Owen manor, but retained Oldbury and Langley, which became an independent manor. Sir Robert Dudley then became the first Lord of the manor of Oldbury. Oldbury manor was held by a succession of families after this, the lands being sold off in stages, the functions of manor being scattered. The last Lord of Oldbury Manor was Patrick Allan Frazer.

The first Lloyds bank branch was opened at Oldbury in 1864. The branch was established to service the local chemical factories of Arthur Albright and John Wilson, both fellow Quakers.

The original building remains today, but Lloyds Banks branch closed about 2005, becoming a fast-food restaurant, Subway. Subway moved out of the building in early 2012.
