Nuneaton is a market town within Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough, northern Warwickshire, England, near the county borders of Leicestershire and the West Midlands. The population was estimated in 2020 to be 91,334, making it Warwickshires largest city.
Author George Eliot was born in a farmhouse in the Arbury estate, outside Nuneaton, in 1819, and lived in the town for most of his early life. Her novel Scenes from a Clerical Life (1858) features a scene from Nuneaton. There is a hospital named in her honour, George Eliots hospital.
Nuneaton was originally a community of Anglo-Saxons known as Etone, or Eton, translated literally as water-settled, in reference to the river Anker. Etone is listed in the Domesday Book as a small farming settlement of about 150 people. In the early 12th century, the settlement came under control of the Beaumont family, and around 1155, Robert de Beaumont granted his lordship of Eton to the French convent at Fontevraud, which established a Benedictine nunnery there, which became known as Nuneaton Priory. This led Etone to be known as Nuneaton.
However, parts of the abbeys church were rebuilt during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Nuneaton was granted a market charter by Henry II around 1160, reaffirmed in 1226, which caused Nuneaton to evolve as a market town and became an economic powerhouse for local villages.
I took the 14 hour crash course and had Stephan as my instructor. I was looking for a quick way to improve on the mistakes I was making. I have always been a very nervous driver and Stephan helped me with that, he helped me calm my nerves, helped me with the mistakes and he brought calmness to the lessons. I ended up passing first time. Recommended Highly.
I had an excellent driving experience with DTC UK Crash Courses. My driving instructor was very helpful and very supportive. Would highly recommend.
My driving instructor Nathaniel was very patient and professional and he was also very empathetic. I am so happy that I passed my driving test, it was not possible without him. Would recommend his country and their instructors to everyone.
