Hugglescote is a village in north-west Leicestershire, England, situated on the river Sess. The village is approximately one mile (1.6 km) south of Coalville city centre, with its built-up area now being adjacent to the city. Hugglescote and Donington le Heath were part of Ibstock parish until 1878, when it was formed as its own civil parish. Despite local opinion, Hugglescote is not classified as Coalville. The civic parishes of Hugglescote and Donington-le-Heath were restored with a decree issued in May 2010, with a new parish council holding their first meeting in May 2011.

The manor was held by Hugh le Despencer in 1217, and was held by a succession of people before the King granted it to William Hastings in 1464. In 1463, William Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Beaumont held the lands of Donington and Hugglescote. However, during the Wars of the Roses Beaumont had fought for the Lancastrian house, and was therefore attained, with Edward IV giving Donington and Hugglescote to the Yorkist courtier William Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings. As of 1831, the Marquis of Hastings was Lord of the Manor.

The manor house in the hastings family was lost. It had a formal garden, where the redbrick structure was built about 1700, altered in around 1820. The building survived, but a section of its slate roof with stone slabs had collapsed.
