Halesowen is a market town in the metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the County of West Midlands, England. Historically a county seat in Shropshire, and since 1844, in Worcestershire, the town is approximately 7 miles (11 km) from the city center of Birmingham, and 6 miles (10 km) from Dudley city center.

The towns population, as measured by the 2011 UK census, was 58,135. Halesowen is included within the Halesowen and Rowley Regis constituency, held by Conservative James Morris. Halesowen was a separate part of Shropshire County, but was included within Worcestershire in 1844, with the County (Detached Parts) Act.

Since the 1974 Local Government Reorganisation, it has formed a part of the Metropolitan County and Dudley Metropolitan Borough, joining it at the same time as nearby Stourbridge, which had also been within Worcestershire up to this time. Halesowen borders Birminghams suburban areas of Quinton and Bartley Green on its east. To the south are Romsley and Worcestershire, to the north is Cradley Heath, and to the west is Stourbridge.

Although Halesowen is largely urban or suburban, it borders green belt land, and has good access to the countryside, such as Clent Hills. It has extensive road links, including the M5 Motorway junction 3, allowing for easy travel to Birmingham, other areas in the Black Country, or nationally. The Birmingham city centre is about 30 minutes by car and is accessible via bus service 9.

The town center of Halesowen is the site of the Norman Church, the Football Ground (where the non-league club Halesowen Town plays) and the Halesowen College, founded in 1939. Most housing in Halesowen is privately owned, built over the 30-year period following the end of the Second World War, though parts of the town are still made up of Victorian and Edwardian terraced houses. The centre of town was rebuilt almost entirely in the 1960s and 1970s.
