Great Lever is a borough in the city of Bolton, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. Historically based in Lancashire, it is located 2+1/2 miles (4.0 km) south of Bolton city centre, the same distance north as Farnworth. The area is served by frequent buses running to Bolton town centre, Farnworth and Royal Bolton Hospital.

On Green Lane, there is one major public house: the Southfields, a public house and restaurant, and The Brooklyn (now a private school). Both were houses built for the owners of the local flour mill. Beehive Mill, (now demolished) at Crescent Rd. On the opposite side of Green Lane from the park is Bolton Cricket Clubs ground.

The two adjoining ponds at Doe Hey are used for private fishing. Will Hill Brook, draining into Doe Hey Reservoir, forms the southern border between Great Lever and Farnworth.

There are also a number of preschool children’s play centres. The Brooklyn, the former public house, is now the independent Lords College School. The primary secondary school for the borough is the Easa Academy, which educates pupils aged between 11 and 16.
