The traditional way of learning to drive is to take one or two lessons per week. This method is not suitable to for learners who are up to test standard. There are many intensive driving schools which offer fast track courses but without a test at the end. DTC is different. We will book you an emergency driving test, even before we start your fast-track course. Erdington is a Birmingham suburb and ward, which was historically part of Warwickshire. It is four miles (6 km) north-east of Birmingham city centre, in the English county of Sutton Coldfield. It is also a council constituency, run by its own ward committee. The old borough was made up of the Earlington, Tyburn, (formerly Kingsbury), Stockland Green, and Kingstanding wards, though all of Kingstanding, and much of both the Tyburn and Stockland Green wards, lay beyond the historic boundaries of Earlington.
Stockland Green was previously part of Aston, Kingstanding was part of Perry Barr, and Tyburn (Tyburn Road South & Birches Green) was partly divided between Aston and Hodge Hill (Castle Vale). Erdington (Ward) was part of Sutton Coldfield Borough until 1974. Erdington has its own Manor House, the Erdington Hall, protected by a double ditch on three sides, and on the fourth side by the river Tame. It evolved from a small, fortified house built by an Anglo-Saxon named Eardwulf, in the Bromford area.
Demolished in the 17th century, it stood on a hilltop at the junction of the present-day Wheelwright Road and the Tyburn Road. The double ditch was dug by Sir Charles Holte in the 18th century. Until 1912, there was one more structure, but it was torn down to build Tyburn Road, although there was still a small part left over before World War I. Other fenced-off properties included one on Fern Road, one on the intersection of Moor End Lane and Berkswell Road, and one surrounding a large farmhouse called the Pipers Orchard, the site of which is visible on the playground at Erdington Grammar School.
