Clifton-upon-Dunsmore is a village and civic parish within the Rugby area of Warwickshire, England, situated in Rugbys north-east suburbs, about two miles (3.2 km) from the Rugby Town Centre. The population of the parish as recorded by the 2011 census was 1,304.

Clifton is reckoned to be a part of Rugby Towns built-up area, but is considered to be distinct from the city. Clifton has the distinction of being the furthest eastward village in Warwickshire (and in all the West Midlands area).

The village is situated on a rather steep hill, rising up to 400 feet (120 m) above sea level at its highest point. The Oxford Canal runs to the south-west past the bottom of the hill. To the north of the village is the Avon river. About 1.2 miles (1.9 km) north-east of Clifton is Doe Bridge, where the A5 (Watling Street) crosses over the Avon, with Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, and Leicestershire counties meeting there as the tri-point.

The area surrounding Clifton was settled in Roman times; about a mile and a half north of Clifton is the former Roman town of Tripontium. The villages name probably comes from the Old English cliff, meaning the ground being stoney, and Dunsmore, being at the top of the hill. During Edward the Confessors reign, Clifton was held by Alwyn, Sheriff of Warwick, who gave his land in Clifton to Coventry Priory; monks of that priory were probably responsible for building the Church here dedicated to Saint Mary, which was at the time of Domesday Book the parent church to the small then-settlement of Rugby.

That church is no longer there, although the present one (of the same name) dates to the 13th century, with subsequent additions, including the current tower, added in the 16th century, replacing the tower that had fallen down during a storm. The church is now listed as Grade II*. The old parish of Clifton included nearby settlements of Braunsover and Newton; the former is now part of Rugby, the latter is now an independent civic parish. To the south-east of the village, and within the parish, is Rugbys former radio station, which operated from 1926 until 2007, and is now a large housing estate called Houlton.

The village was formerly served by the Clifton Mill railway station, which was part of the former Rugby and Stamford railway. The station opened in 1864, closed in 1953, the line in 1966. The village was once home to Rugby Racecourse, used for horseracing from 1862 to 1936. The Grand National steeplechase, which is part of Cheltenham Festival today, was run there in 1862.
