Chalfont St Giles is a village and civic parish in south-east Buckinghamshire, England. It is within the borough known as Chalfonts, which also includes Chalfont St Peter and Little Chalfont. It lies at the edge of the Chiltern Hills, 20.9 miles (33.6 km) west-northwest of Charing Cross, central London, and is close to Seer Green, Jordans, Chalfont St Peter, Little Chalfont, and Amersham. “Chalfont” means a spring in chalk, in reference to the carrying capacity of water from the local topography.

The village has a duck pond which is fed by the river Misbourne. The village sign was designed and painted by Doreen Wilcockson ARCA in 2001.

In the Domesday book of 1086, Chalfont St. Giles and Chalfont St. Peter are listed as separate manors, under separate proprietors, called the Clefunte. They were separate Manors prior to the Norman Conquest.

The Church of England parish church, St. Giles, is of Norman architecture, dating to the 12th century. The church has a lychgate and early 14th-century wall paintings. During the English Civil War, a number of iron gunballs were embedded in the stonework surrounding the eastern windows; these are believed to have been fired by the forces of Oliver Cromwell while camping on nearby fields following the Battle of Aylesbury. Three such balls are now displayed at John Miltons cottage in the village.

Bishop Francis Hare is buried at the churchyard graveyard, at the graveyard of his family.
