Bulkington is a large village and formerly civil parish within Nuneaton and Bedworth districts in Warwickshire, England. In the 2011 census, the ward had a population of 6,146, and in the 2001 census, it had 6,303. It is about 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Coventry, directly to the east of the towns of Nuneaton and Bedworth, and 5 miles (8 km) south-west of Hinkley. Although it has strong historical links to Bedworth, Bulkington forms part of the Nuneaton urban area. Bulkington is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Bochintone, meaning “an estate associated with a man called Bohl”.

Bulkingtons primary industry was historically the weaving of tapestries. Today, Bulkington is mostly a commuter village to larger urban centres in the surrounding area, such as Coventry, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Hinkley and Leicester.

Bulkington has connections to locally born writer George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans), who knew the village well. She is thought to have called it Lavelloe in her book Silas Marner (1861). St. Jamess Church is the place where George Eliots uncle and aunt are buried. Bulkingtons early history is outlined in Domesday Book, where it is mentioned amongst the manors of Count of Melan, under his under-tenant, Sallow.

Bulkington Parish was originally composed of two vylls with five manors–in South Bulkington and Barnacle, and North Marston, Weston, and Bramcote. The first four were held all by the Earl of Mersey. Bulkington was the largest of these sub-divisions (at four manors and one virgate) and acted as a manor center; however, the centre of the manor had moved by the end of the thirteenth century to Weston-in-Arden. By 1285, Weston Manor contained Bulkington, Bramcote, Barnacle, Ryton, Clifton, and Whibtoft. The manor house, Weston Hall, dating from the 16th century, is still standing in Weston-in-Arden.

It was largely renovated in 1892, and after serving briefly as a dance hall during the 1970s and 80s, it now functions as a hotel.
