Bedworth is a market town in Nuneaton and Bedworth district in Warwickshire, England. It lies between Coventry, five miles (8 km) south, and Nuneaton, three miles (5 km) north. In the 2011 census, the population of the town was 30,648. Bedworth is located 101 miles (163 km) north-west of London, 19 miles (31 km) east of Birmingham, and 17 miles (27 km) north-north-east of the County Borough of Warwick. Bedworth has six major commuter constituencies, which are Collycroft, Mount Pleasant, Bedworth Heath, Coalpit Field, Goodyers End and Exhall.

Exhall is the umbrella name for an area surrounding Junction 3 on the M6 Motorway, comprising parts of Bedworth and Coventry. About 1.5 miles (2 km) to the east of Bedworth is the larger village of Bulkington, while about 2 miles (3 km) south-west, separated by a short gulf, is the village of Ash Green. Bedworth is adjacent to Coventry, defined as being within the Coventry and Bedworth urban area. The River Sowe, which rises at Bedworth, flows through Exhall, north and east Coventry, Baginton, and Stoneleigh, and then meets the River Avon just south of Stoneleigh.

Originally a small market town with Saxon roots, Bedworth is mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086 as Beadwold. The earliest recorded mention of a Priest at Bedworth is in 1297.

The town suffered great devastation as a result of the 14th-century Black Death. In 1590, the town was described as being home to only 14 families. By 1730, Bedworth had recovered somewhat due to the local coal-mining industry, and was described as having 260 houses.

Following the passing of the Five Mile Law in 1665, which prohibited non-conformist Churchgoers from gathering to worship and proselytise within five miles of a town or city with corporate powers, such as Coventry. Bedworth, exactly five miles from Coventry, became the local hub of the nonconformists gathering in the city. In 1686, Reverend Julius Saunders established an Old Meeting Congregation north of the five-mile mark. An old marker which was at the mile-post is still visible at a doorpost at Almshouses.
