Bardsey, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom is a small village within the Metropolitan Borough of the City of Leeds, eight miles (13 km) to the north-east of the Leeds City Centre. The village is within Leedss LS17 postal code area. It is part of the parish of Buddsey Cum Rigaton. The village itself is situated off the A58 road between Leeds and Wetherby.

It is a largely middle-class district, with a large proportion of residents who are retired. Housing is mixed; although much is private, there is some council housing situated off Keswick Lane.

Facilities include a public house and sports clubs (with one cricket ground and two football fields). Bardsey also has a primary school and an Anglican church.

The name Bardsey was first recorded in Domesday Book of 1086, being named as Beldesei and Beleleseie, situated within Skyrack Hundred. Exactly what the name was is uncertain, but Beornraed is a reasonable candidate. So, it is likely that this name was once the name for Beornraed Island (or that of a person with that name). As the place is not actually an island, the name has been suggested as being metaphorical, meaning an elevated, island-like, hill on level ground.

A neighbouring earthwork named Pompocali, in Scarcroft parish, is uncertain in its origin, but may be a quarrying effect. A small Roman road runs beside it, suggesting Pompocali was a result of Roman activities.

A motte-and-bailey castle dates from shortly after the Norman Conquest. Bardsey is also home to Britains oldest towered Anglo-Saxon church, the All Hallows Church Tower dating from around the year 850-950. The Bingley Arms is a public house which claims to be Englands oldest public house, with records from Domesday book, though the claims are disputed.
