There are several dual carriageways within easy reach from the Uxbridge Practical est Centre. The most dreaded is the A40 which has the national speed limit of 70 mph. Driving examiner will expect learners to make progress if the conditions allow it. Generally speaking, you should aim to reach at least 50 mph. However, it must be remembered, that you must always leave a 2-second gap between you and the driver in front.
The A4020, the Uxbridge Road is another dual carriageway where learner drivers tend to fail. Although it has a lower speed limit of 40 mph, it can be hazardous due to parked vehicles. The examiner will expect the learner to plan ahead, checking mirrors and signalling, if needed to overtake parked vehicles. Driving Test in Uxbridge – Roundabouts
Like most driving test centres in London, Uxbridge has its share of roundabouts. Mini, large, multi-lane traffic light controlled and a couple of double roundabouts. Many learners have been known to fail on these double roundabouts. The first set is by the Hillingdon Hospital. There are averagely sized roundabouts. Learners drivers often correctly deal with the first roundabout but fail to notice the second one. This is because the roundabouts are extremely close to each other. You could say they are joining one another. After dealing with the first roundabout, you must look to the right and give way to traffic on the second roundabout.
The second set on double roundabouts appears in Iver on the way towards Slough. These are mini roundabouts on the Slough Road. Many learner drivers tend to go over the first mini roundabout instead of going around it. Watch out for the road signs and road markings and you will find the roundabouts on the Uxbridge driving test route fairly easy. Driving Test in Uxbridge – Reverse Exercise
As the Uxbridge Practical Test Centre has marked bays, there is a high possibility that the examiner will request you to carry out the bay park exercise either at the very start of the test or at the very end. Many learner drivers worry unnecessarily about the bay park. Even if you parked bang in the middle of 2 boxes, you can simply go forward. Correct the mistake and then reverse back into the box. The examiner will not tell you which box to park in. They will simply ask to park in a box of your choice. Avoid parking at the very end next to the kerb. If you hit the kerb, you will fail. However, if you went over the white line, its no problem.
Observations during the reversing are just as important as the manoeuvre itself. If not, more important. You are welcome to stop a few time to take a look around if needed. If the examiner does not request the bay park manoeuvre, you could be asked to carry out the parallel park or even stop on the right side of the road exercise.
