Car for Driving Test Enfield

There are two practical test centres in Enfield. Many driving tests are cancelled with the candidates losing their money simply because they fail to read the email confirmation letter properly.  Firstly, the email contains the exact date, time and place of the test. Secondly, it tells the candidates what to bring on the day of the practical test.  Many candidates turn up at the wrong test centre. Some even turn up without their driving licence or a car.

Can you use the Driving Examiners Car in the Test?

The DVSA booking confirmation email clearly states that the test candidate must bring a car for the test. It further states that most people use their instructor’s car. Unfortunately, many learner drivers get confused with a driving examiner and a driving instructor. The driving examiner at Enfield works for the Government and is the person who will be testing you. His/Her job is simply to pass or fail the test candidate. The driving instructor is usually self-employed and his/her job is to teach. They have no authority to conduct a test and therefore can not pass or fail a person.

Can you use the Driving Instructors Car in the Test?

Many learner drivers in the Enfield area will use the driving instructor’s car when attending for the practical test. However, the instructor is under no obligation to lend or hire their car to anyone for the driving test. In fact, the DVSA advise instructors to only allow candidates that are at test standard to use their car for driving tests.  The DVSA monitors the individual driving instructors pass rate. Most driving instructors in the Enfield area of London will only allow the use of their car to learners drivers who regularly take driving lessons from them.

Can you use your Own Car for the Driving Test?

You can use your own car for taking the driving test provided it meets certain DVSA rules.  Basically, the car must be legal and roadworthy. The driving examiner at Enfield will inspect the car before the driving test. Part of the checks may include the tyres, brake lights, headlights, indicators, demisters, heating controls, wipers and the horn. The checks may also include opening the bonnet and asking the candidate to explain how they would check the enh=gine oil, windscreen washer fluid and coolant.
