Car for Driving Test at Reading

Many driving test candidates are turned away from the Reading Practical Test Centre due to their vehicle not meeting the required standards. Suitable Car for the Driving Test

A test candidate may bring their own car to the driving test at Reading or they may borrow or hire a car. The Learner driver borrows a car from a friend or a relative. However, should they decide to rent a car, it must be fitted with dual controls. The car must be roadworthy. Furthermore, it should be fitted with L-plates and have an extra interior mirror for the examiners use.

Using the Driving Instructors Car

Many learner drivers prefer to use their instructor’s car. A driving instructor must not be confused with an examiner. The driving examiners at Reading will not allow the learner driver to use their cars. Driving instructors will allow their pupils access to their car provided the pupil has reached the required standard. Furthermore, the car must not be prebooked. Most driving instructors only have one car. A few instructors have two. One automatic and the other, manual.
